In partnership, Monroe Public Schools and the Generation E Institute will showcase the next generation of leaders and innovators at the 2021 Young Entrepreneur Celebration on Thursday, May 27, from 4:00-6:30 p.m.  This year’s event has been reimagined to feature a format inspired by the reality TV series Shark Tank.

In past years, more than 200 student entrepreneurs from grades kindergarten through 12 presented their businesses in an expo-style format, offering their products for sale.  Due to the pandemic, the 2021 showcase has been planned as an in-person event for final student entrepreneur contestants, their families, and a panel of judges.  It will be shared virtually via a live broadcast.

This entrepreneurship curriculum ignites innovative spirit with programs that inspire and guide creative thinking.  Students are provided opportunities to learn and practice entrepreneurial skills through critical thinking exercises, problem-solving activities, and researching ideas based on student interests to create business ventures.  As young entrepreneurs, the students have developed products, services, and business ideas.

The 2.5-hour celebration will be held in the Monroe High School Auditorium and will feature a keynote guest speaker, presentations by the entrepreneur finalists, and an awards ceremony.

Student entrepreneurs were narrowed down to a group of final contestants through a selection process that included applications and phone interviews in which they shared their pitch and details about their entrepreneurial experience.  During the live broadcast event, entrepreneurs will make their presentations and answer questions from the judges.
